Chennai & Pondicherry: A Coastal Escape

Overview

My recent trip to Chennai and Pondicherry was honestly such a good mix of culture, history, and just chilling by the beach. Chennai was full of energy—Marina Beach is huge and the old buildings there have so much history behind them. The drive to Pondicherry on the East Coast Road was really nice, especially the stop at Mahabalipuram to see the Shore Temple. Pondicherry was interesting because it feels like your in a French town but also very much in Tamil Nadu at the same time. I walked around the French Quarter with all it's colorful buildings, tried different cafes in White Town, visited Auroville which was super peaceful, and woke up early for sunrises at Serenity Beach. The best part though? Just standing at the beach watching the waves come in under those amazing skies. It made me realize I needed to slow down and just enjoy the moment. This trip wasnt just about checking off places—it was more about finding something calm and beautiful in these coastal towns and learning about their history. Perfect for anyone who wants to experience culture and also relax by the sea. Duration: 4-5 days | Best time: November-February | Must-do: Rent a bike in Pondy, try local seafood, watch the sunrise
